Houss El Marabti and Subhi Gharbieh, Co-Founders of the new Museum of Money (MoMoney) in downtown Dallas, set out to make financial literacy more engaging and accessible through a series of large-scale interactive exhibits exploring the evolution of money — from minting to blockchain. To help realize this vision, lead design firm Luci brought on Fivestone Studios to develop a suite of digital interactive experiences rooted in play-based learning. Project partners also included Ravenswood Studio and Electrosonic. “Essentially, the MoMoney Museum was created to address the ongoing challenge of financial illiteracy in the U.S.,” the Co-Founders said. “Since opening, we’ve seen encouraging responses to these more interactive approaches to financial education.”
Working under Luci’s creative direction, Fivestone collaborated on visitor experience concepts before designing six interactive installations aimed at translating complex financial topics into approachable, memorable experiences. “Working closely with Luci’s project leads, our team focused on making financial concepts feel intuitive and engaging,” said Traylor Woodall, Executive Creative Director at Fivestone Studios. “We wanted visitors to connect with the ideas through participation and interaction.”
Fivestone approached the project as a series of immersive, responsive experiences that allowed visitors to explore financial systems through real-time interaction. Each installation was developed using the Unity real-time engine, enabling rapid iteration, high-quality animation, and responsive integration between digital and physical components. The overall technology stack included motion tracking, projection mapping, LED displays, touch interfaces, custom physical overlays, photo capture systems, dynamic audio, and randomized gameplay systems. Together, these elements created a unified experience that combined software, hardware, and storytelling to present financial concepts in a more accessible and engaging format.
The featured experiences include:
- Market Shuffle — Visitors trade goods without using currency in a timed collaborative game.
- Hoard of Gold — Participants explore a shared virtual environment centered around treasure and value.
- Financial Tellers — A reinterpretation of the classic boardwalk fortune teller offering financial prompts and advice.
- NYSE Photo Opportunity — A coin flip initiates an interactive photo moment inspired by the New York Stock Exchange.
- Interest Invaders — A retro-inspired arcade game displayed on a large Nanolumens LED display focused on financial decision-making.
- Design Your Own Currency — Visitors generate personalized AI-created currency portraits to save and share.
“Projects like this demonstrate the value of close collaboration across disciplines,” Woodall added. “With Luci guiding the creative vision, Ravenswood shaping the physical environments, and Electrosonic supporting the technical infrastructure, our role focused on creating responsive systems that brought the overall experience together in a cohesive way.”
